Things to know for your first visit
1. Don't be on an empty stomach. Receiving acupuncture on an empty stomach may lead to lightheadedness or dizziness. A meal before treatment is not necessary, and a simple snack can help your body have enough energy to maximize the treatment’s potential.
2. Avoid caffeine and alcohol before and after treatment. The less influencing factors you have in your system when the needles go in, the better.
3. Wear loose clothing. To receive acupuncture, you may not need to remove your clothes like you would for a massage. Wearing loose clothing is recommended so you can easily roll up sleeves above the elbows and pull up pant legs above the knees when needed.
4. Expect health, medical event and lifestyle questions. The more detail information you can give, the better treatment plans can be personalized to meet your needs. You may also be asked to show your tongue, have your pulse taken and have your abdomen pressed if necessary. This will help to determine a diagnosis.
5. We use more than needles. Although needle may be the main tool, a variety of other techniques, such as cupping and Moxibustion, are often combined with acupuncture to maximize treatment effect. Depending on your diagnosis and comfort level, you may get more than just needles at your visit.
6. One treatment is often not enough to cure what ails you. On your initial visit, we will discuss with you on your condition, and provide personalized treatment plan recommendations. Most of the plans take 3-10 treatments, and patients usually start to feel obvious improvement after one or two treatments. Depending on the severity of your condition and your recovery progress, your plan could be shortened or extended.
7. Convenient free parking.Â
